How Midnight Pioneer got its start
I came up on Anchorage’s east side, in a Mountain View fourplex by the Glenn. For years I ran other companies’ crews all over the Bowl before buying my first truck in 2012 and hanging out my own shingle.
What decided it was one too many jobs where folks got nickel-and-dimed and their furniture came off the truck scuffed. I built this place backwards from that: settle the number in writing up front, then field a crew that earns it.
Is Midnight Pioneer a real moving company?
Yes. We’re a licensed and insured, owner-run outfit here in Anchorage, moving only on our own trucks with movers in our own shirts. No middleman sits between you and the crew, and your job never gets listed out as a lead — book us and it’s our people who turn up.
Who you’ll deal with
- Marissa Aguon — office manager; runs scheduling, insurance certificates, and the JBER base-access and HOA paperwork
- Brant Kelley — dispatcher; sets the daily board from Eagle River to Wasilla, plus gate codes, base passes and winter road calls
- Travis Okpik — lead crew chief; pianos, gun safes, cramped downtown elevators and icy Hillside stair-carries
- Nikolai Kalmakoff — long-haul lead up the Glenn and Parks toward the Mat-Su and Fairbanks
- Dale Whitmore — handles JBER military PCS moves and apartment move-ins around Muldoon and Spenard
Roughly sixteen movers wear our shirt, all on W-2 — we don’t run day-labor or farm work out. Since Alaska licenses no household movers, we operate under federal US DOT and MC registration, bonded and fully insured. Reach the office and odds are I pick up; the hard Hillside drives and downtown towers, I’m still on myself.
